Il Solatio Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione
Il Solatio Chianti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione
The “Il Solatìo” vineyard, a small gem of less than one hectare, is located on a steep, rocky slope with a southeast exposure. Situated at an altitude of 550–600 meters, the soil is composed almost entirely of fragments of Alberese rock, known for its high permeability and low fertility—ideal conditions for producing wines of great structure and character.
The selected grapes from the vineyard of the same name ferment in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with skin contact lasting 3–4 weeks and constant monitoring of extraction. Malolactic fermentation occurs in stainless steel to preserve the wine's freshness and balance.
Aging initially takes place for 10–12 months in 36-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels and tonneaux, both new and second-use. Subsequently, the wines are blended and aged for an additional 6 months in Slavonian oak barrels before a final 18-month bottle aging.
Il Solatìo represents the excellence of the Radda in Chianti terroir, with a complexity and elegance that make it unique within the Chianti Classico landscape.
